![]() Nvidia will implement PhysX instructions into CUDA and the GeForce GPU should take over the physics hardware role. If you have a PhysX card, you can definitely be sure that that it will be the last one to launch. Ageia becomes just another brand that Nvidia swallowed, and the list includes 3DFX, ULI, Mental Ray, Aureal and some other big names. Source: fudzilla.com

It's not bad to have companies merges but it's really ugly to see how new companies with new technologies and a lot of potentials go down so easy.

well in my opinion, it either wasn't time for a physics card to appear, or they implemented it badly. Now I'm sure some of us will agree that the addition of a physics card, which would probably rival GPU's in price wouldn't be too friendly on wallets.
Graphics cards came out and had a real weight behind them. I believe a popular game needed one to run it. This opened the doors for so much future possibility. Now true, with full developmental support and the game companies behind them, an physics card could do wonders. Gaming just isn't looking that way, were are still about realistic looking, as in spacial terms... not as in dynamic/motion terms. The last nail in the physics card's coffin was human nature. There is a reason why financial advisors must tell their clients to diversify, to limit losses, and gain potential benefits. For it is against human nature to spread thing out too much. Sure group work is fine, but only so far as the work to human ratio is above 1... for humans are smart, and highly efficient in their own eyes.... why spread the work onto me, when those three are doing just fine. The same is with Computer parts. Why, if I'm correct, Daamit was looking into integrating GPUs and PPU into their CPUs. People like integration, they like simple rather than complex.... The time is not right for PPUs. |
