Ok a little hardware game. So the goal is to pick a realistic budget ( maybe the amount you'd think you'd spend on your next computer) and then do a little looking and find the components for the best computer you can make with it.
If you have some 'dream' components already you can add them in without charge. This should be fun and get some of the members who are less familiar with the best bang for buck a good idea what they could get by seeing all our (and their) thoughts on "best" machine. (I'll add mine soon enough, gotta go to bed now work early tomorrow.) |

I would go with the new INTEL X58 chipset. Dekstop models can now run up to 24GB DDR !!! OMG ahaha so i was always for AMD as they are better for gaming, but this new intel (bloomfield if im right) enabled 24GB on dekstop machines / MoBo's
so well my next upgrade will be X58 chip / 4870's CrossFire. Ill make a lust asap. What's the buget? As when i normally upgrade i spend between 1200(1,881.85 USD) and 2200(3,450.06 USD) Euro

And like tests up till now showed it's not really worth the extra money. And 2 4870's will be faster that 1 4870 X2. So i can maybe add 4x 4870's

Ok, after a quick look (I work full time a truck repair shop and doing reconstruction, so I'm a little tired :P). Here it is not at all that bad for an under 1400 USD computer.
Parts: Motherboard: Asus P5Q3-Deluxe CPU: Intel E8400 Ram: Patriot Extreme Performance PC3-10666 2x2gb Video Card: HIS Radeon HD4870 Power Supply: PC Power & Cooling silencer 750w HDD: Spinpoint F1 1Tb CPU cooling: Thermaltake blue orb (not the best for the rpice I just like how it looks and it works well) Case: NZXT LEXA silver Now this was quick and ideally I'd like to get a system between 1500-1800 USD, of course the point of this rig is to overclock it to a nice speed and you should get very good results for a mid-mid-high-end rig :P. Oh and by the way, not a fan of dual GPU builds, don't know why:P. |

looking good but i wouldn't go for ddr3 now its to expensive ddr2 is more then good enough wait t'ill later this year ddr 3 will become cheaper i hope
.for the rest your config is ok espescially the 4870 oh and wouldn't you buy a quadcore instead of dual core ?
