Default X850 fog issue

Ive had this issue forever with all my ati cards to date.
In BF2 and Americas Army fog rendering is over the top.
Way to much fog compared to my nvida setup.
Anyone have any ideas how to reduce the amount of fog ??????/

If I'm correct, The added fog, is a bug in the catalyst drivers. So far there's no work around that I could find or know of, but I believe the ATI guys are trying to iron out the problem. I don't know if any driver modders had any luck getting rid of it.

Sorry I couldn't be of any more help.

Ah yes the fabled Dark side, good old dark side. Hope the dark side helps you out :P. Well as it goes ATI tends to be better with their drivers (check that... much better) then Nvidia, so you may just see that fix sooner or later (hopefully sooner :P).

NOT THE DARKSIDE! If you use ATI Tray Tools you can most likely disable one of the fog options in Advanced Tweaks. ATI has better graphics card makes than Nvidia the only reason Nvidia is better in any way is because their support and drivers are better. This is why we have modified drivers ^_^.

That's funny I was thinking the other way around (ok the better cards is up in the air in my opinion, because depending what you're looking for, that idea shifts) but Nvidia can be very cheap on drivers.. but drivers are fickle, they can be a godsend.. or a living hell.

Or maybe I'm just wrong :P.

Well the ones you should definitely try to disable at first are Vertex and Discrete fog W and Z fog tend to be more commonly used. Some games see it as a hack by disabling certain fog options so if it does cause a kick or won't start up with trying different options I guess you are out of luck until the issue is fixed.

Don't go to the dark side though!

The only recent drivers to my knowledge that Nvidia has made which were genuinely flawed were the 162.12 beta drivers or something of the sort which were pulled off the Nvidia page asap. Of course Nvidia did attack NGOHQ recently...the bastards!

haha yeah, people these days, no honour. in any case, maybe my view is different, the ATI cards I had worked so very well and yeah, guess I only really go into this driver business when I got my 6600gt. Stupid bias XD.
