Windows Unable to Play Call Of Duty II

I am using my HCL laptop for COD II
Config :
Intel Dual core 1.6
1 GB Ram
80 GB HDD
DVD RW
Intel graphics with 64 MB Dedicated
Windows XP Pro SP2

When I try to run the game it is showing DirectX Render Error. Is it due to the lack of Graphics Card. I do have their recommended DX9.0c Version installed. Is there any alternative solution without changing the display, to make run that game in my laptop?

Please help me.

Yep, maybe it's your graphic card being unable to run the game, simply by installing DX90c it doesn't mean that you can play every DX9 games if your graphic card doesn't support it.
Btw maybe you can put in your graphic card spec here just to be sure.

Yeah I have to agree with the others. Unfortunately it looks like your graphics card is most likely the problem. Although you meet the minimum requirements as listed here..."

System:
Pentium IV 1.4GHz or AMD Athlon 1.4 GHz or equivalent
RAM:
256 MB
Video Memory:
64 MB
Hard Drive Space:
4000 MB
Other:
Internet (TCP/IP) and LAN (TCP/IP) play supported, LAN play requires network interface card and latest drivers

Internal graphics cards are notorious for not working well for gaming purposes. I would suggest downloading all the latest drivers for your laptop.

try to update your directX (use the directx auto updater that can be found in www.microsoft.com/directx) and the intel driver from the intel website. drivers provided from the notebook manufacturer may not be the latest.

try to also provide us more detailed information such as the exact intel display chip you are using.

note: latest intel chip is able to support shader 2 and 3 but you will need the exect latest driver from intel. but performance may be low on high demanding games.
