Hello all, I am trying to find an ATI driver that will solve the known issue of flickering when Anti-Aliasing is enabled in Dungeon Siege 2 as well as it's expansion Broken World. The official site for the game acknowledged this problem years ago and neither the game mfg. nor ATI has ever implemented a fix for it.
I have tried ati_omega_xp2k_48442.exe, the latest version from NGO, as well as Warcat 7.1 second release. All of them fail to address this problem (all drivers were uninstalled and then driver cleaner pro as well as 2 additional reg cleaners were run in safe mode between attempts.) What happens is when you load the game, the screen will flicker yellow very fast only when you move the mouse across the screen--this is when AA is enabled at any degree -2X AA, 4X, or 6X with or without temporal or adaptive enabled (tried all combinations etc.) There is also a weird blocking artifact that tracks the background behind the cursor--similar to the type of blocking you see from a poor quality DVD video codec. When Anti-Aliasing is disabled (application controlled) the game does not flicker whatsoever from mouse movement, but then you have very ugly jagged edges as to be expected. Apparently no one here plays this game because I did not find a single result when searching for it--so I hope someone has a copy to try to see if they can figure out if they can modify the driver AA somehow to fix this problem, it is very annoying. From what i had gathered, Gas Powered Games was still in the process of finalizing their bug report to ATI approx 2+ years ago, and ATI released their FINAL update for any issues regarding DS2/Broken World for ALL video cards at the X800 Series and below, and then they completely dropped any subsequent concern for bug fixes with newer cards such as mine, a X1650XT. Please let me know if there is a driver somewhere or if someone can figure out how to modify the way the AA works with this game so it works properly please. Thank you. P.S. FSAA on my X1650XT works fine in all other games with every driver I have tried, it only does not work properly with DS2/BW with FSAA enabled. Also my card is AGP not PCI-E, Windows Server 2003, 32 bit (I know drivers weren't officially made for 2k3, but they work fine and I know for a fact that the OS is not causing the problem.)
